Training of all NIE educators to the use of ICT in Khmer

The Open School program has trained, during the months of July and August all the teaching and administrative staff of the National Institute of Education (110) to the use of Khmer Unicode and the use of Khmer language Free and Open Source computer Applications such as OpenOffice, Mekhala (Firefox) and Moyura (Thunderbird), as well as webmail. The National Institute of Education is the body of the Ministro of Education, Youth and Sport in charge of training pre-service upper secondary schools teachers for the whole country. The training is a first step to raise the capacity of the National Institute of Education as a teacher training center, incuding ICT in its training methodology and administration. During the 2007-2008 year, further training will introduce them to Multimedia and Open and Distance techniques. Over 110 teachers where given 20 hours of training to the use of Khmer Unicode and Khmer language computer applications.
