September 12, 2013 KampongCham: The first BarCamp Kampong Cham has been organized at CheaSim University of Kamchaymear, Kampongcham province Branch from August 24 to 25, 2013 and it was also the third time of BarCamp in 2013.

BarCamp KampongCham has provided opportunities to 650 participants who are youth, entrepreneur, investors, innovators and organization's staff from different sectors. They were from Phnom Penh, Kampong Cham and other provinces, and they were mobilized through Open Institute's SPICE program supported by USAID.

In the event, SPICE program invited organization's staff from Mondolkiri, Ratanakiri, Kratie, Stungtreng, Kampongthom and Kampong Cham province to participate in training within 9 topics that were prepared by SPICE's team. The purpose of the training is to increase awareness and skills of using Information Communication Technology (ICT) Basic. The topics that provided were:

  1. Introduction to Khmer Unicode and How to type on PC and Phone (smart phone & old phone)
  2. Introduction to OpenOffice (spell check, sorting, etc.)
  3. Introduction to Interactive Voice Response (IVR) for promoting information.
  4. How to create IVR system
  5. How to install Khmer fonts on mobile phone without root and install Khmer keyboard standard
  6. How to convert from Legacy fonts ↔ Khmer Unicode
  7. The use of mobile phone and communication (conversation, message, etc.)
  8. Introduction to Mobile Web Technology (Google Translate, Google Maps, Google Drive, Google+, etc)
  9. Basic Internet and Introduction to Social Network

There were 508 participants attended​​ the training provided by SPICE's team. The most gorgeous topics were "Introduction to Interactive Voice Response (IVR) for promoting information" and "Introduction to Khmer Unicode and How to type on PC and Phone (smart phone & old phone)".
