The goal of the Open Institute / Spanish Cooperation Research Grants is to improve the quality of academic research in Cambodia by supporting the use of correct research methodology in Master and Ph.D. thesis, as well as to ensure correct integration of gender aspects in all research.
A maximum of 10 research grants, with a maximum value of $1,000 per grant will be given to Master or Ph.D. students of Cambodian public universities to cover research expenses that take place between January and May 2013 in the framework of a Master or Ph.D. thesis.
Who may apply: students currently enrolled in a Master or Ph.D. program in a public university in Cambodia working on a thesis. For Master's students, the thesis must have a presentation date inside 2013. Applicants must not have received any other grants for the work on their thesis.
What the grants cover: Research expenses that take or have taken place between the 1st January 2013 and the 31st May 2013, as well as a small honorarium for the researcher (a maximum of $60 per month) to cover expenses that are difficult to justify. Grantees will also be offered participation in a 36-hour course on research methodology offered by the Open Institute (fully in Khmer) during February and March 2013.

Deadline: Applications must be received by the Open Institute by the 15st February 2013.
Presentation of the results: The grantees will be asked to present the methodology used in their studies at a Seminar on Research Methodology that will take place on the 30th and 31st May 2013.
